Downtown Winnipeg sits along the north shore of the Assiniboine River, and the west shore of the Red River. It is bordered to the north and west by the St. James, Pacific, and Dufferin Industral areas. Several main thoroughfares pass through the downtown area, including Portage Ave from the west; Main St from the north; Provencher Blvd from the east; St Mary's Rd from the southeast; and Donald St, Osborne St, and Academy Rd from the south.
