Kirkfield sits south of Portage Ave on the north shore of the Assiniboine River, bounded by Westwood Dr to the west, and skirting around the St. Charles Country Club to the east. There are multiple entry points along Portage Ave, with Westwood Dr having the only available bus route. There are two city parks, each with a playground. Pinehurst / Byron Park is the larger of the two, providing a trail, open areas, and several baseball diamonds.
